We continue to grow our practice through client retention and referrals by providing high-quality work at reasonable rates to all of our clients.
Because most of our clients prefer to know costs upfront, we can provide a fixed fee for our services to analyze, prepare and file most patent and trademark applications, and may only deviate from these fees when a client makes changes to their disclosure. Whether prospective clients need advice or assistance with a patent or trademark application, or an issued patent or registered trademark, our office is dedicated to providing personal attention to each and every case. We primarily serve Los Angeles County and Orange County areas but, also serve California, the United States, and countries all over the world.
OUR FIRM’S HISTORY
AGK Patent & Trademark Law was formerly Averill, Green & Kim. The Law Office of Averill, Green & Kim was the successor firm to Averill & Green, which was the successor to Averill & Varn, originally founded in 1974 by Edgar W. Averill, Jr. and Russell Varn. Mr. Averill’s practice included patents, trademarks, wills, and trusts, while Mr. Varn’s practice was primarily family law.
Both Mr. Averill and Mr. Varn were highly respected in their fields. Kenneth L. Green joined the law firm in 2003, practicing patent and trademark prosecution, and was named partner in 2008. At that time, the firm’s name changed to Averill, Varn & Green. In April 2010, after 40 years of dedicated service, both Mr. Averill and Mr. Varn retired, handing the reins of the intellectual property practice over to Mr. Green.
Mr. Green officially retired from the practice of law on January 1, 2025, and handed the reins over to attorney Philip Y. Kim. With over 50 years of combined service, AGK seeks to continue the legacy of quality legal service built by Mr. Averill and Mr. Green as the next generation continues the firm’s history under a new name and new leadership.
Our goal is to continue to build on this respected reputation as AGK Patent & Trademark Law, providing professional, high-quality service at reasonable prices to clients primarily in the Southern California area, including Los Angeles and Orange Counties, as well as throughout the United States and worldwide.
